What is RCS Messaging?

RCS (Rich Communication Services) is a next generation SMS protocol that upgrades text messaging. Rich features like payments, high-res photo and file sharing, location sharing, video calls, and much more, are delivered to a device’s default messaging app.

 

Basically, SMS turns into WhatsApp when RCS protocol is enabled. It is useful to note that RCS Messages are applicable whether it’s person-to-person (P2P) messaging between devices or application-to-person (A2P) messaging.

 

RCS is compatible with user accessibility, enabling features like screen-reading etc.
